June 2021 - Confused? We're not surprised

We all appreciate just how tough it must be for the UK Government to make decisions in light of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. We hoped that 21st June would signal the final stage (step 4) of their plan to return to some sort of normality. But the recent developments surrounding the Delta Variant, has led to a delay in how certain businesses can move forward.

How many people can attend a meeting and/or function?

From what we understand, currently all groups can safely return and use the hall. There are some limitations on casual hire, not only in what the Government stipulate, but as a responsible community hall, we have put in place our own restrictions.

For example, our own restrictions include limiting numbers in line with Government Guidance. Therefore the MAXIMUM PERMITTED NUMBERS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

MAIN HALL GROUND FLOOR: Maximum user capacity: 120 persons.
Covid-19 SECURE Policy in place - Main Hall Maximum 60 persons at any one event.

UPSTAIRS CONFERENCE MEETING ROOM: Maximum user capacity: 30 persons.
Covid-19 SECURE Policy in place - Upstairs Conference Room Maximum 15 persons at any one event.

What types of activities are affected by the 21st June delay?

We cannot hire - for the following activities

Due to the recent updates on UK Government Policy, we cannot hire the hall for the following activities on or before 19th July 2021. Two of the Government's four tests have not been met - these are the tests on variants changing the risks; and the risk of a surge in hospitalisations which would put unsustainable pressure on the NHS. If you have paid a deposit for one of the events listed below, we will arrange a refund as soon as possible for you.

  • Children's birthday parties (it means parents who want to invite the whole class to their child's party will have to wait until after July 19);
  • Any type of dance shows;
  • Any type of singing;

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

If your group or activity is NOT SHOWN IN THE LIST ABOVE then we can continue to allow you to use the hall as normal.

Making sure we are all safe

Covid Secure - Making sure we are ALL safe

Every weekday morning the hall is cleaned and sanitised. Our regular extensive cleaning programme, also concentrates too on contact surfaces such as door handles, window ledges, tables, chairs and tap handles. Toilets are thorougly cleaned as usual. If you are a casual hirer, say for example a party booking using a Saturday or Sunday, then prior to your booking the hall will be cleaned and checked. But then this is where we need to rely on you the hirer - whether you are a regular hirer of the hall, or a casual one off party booking. We ALL NEED TO PLAY OUR PART in keeping the building covid secure. Here are the key points below to help you:

  • Face masks are still required in all indoor public settings - use your common sense;
  • Use the hand sanitisers provided when you come into the building;
  • Keep safe distancing between people;
  • What you touch you clean! So if you use chairs, tables then use wipes provided, or bring your own;
  • Supervise your activities correctly and with due diligence;
  • Appoint responsible people to keep an eye on what is happening;
  • When you're finished your hire, then tidy up, clean up and don't think "it's someone else's job" to do it.

If we work as a team then it makes life less complicated and so much easier, and safer! REGULAR HIRERS are reminded of the same requirements.
