Planning ahead for re-opening in 2021

2021 Re-Opening Deverell Hall

Planning ahead for 2021

2021 Planning - Getting ready to come back

With recent developments in the Covid vaccination programme, and taking into account Government Guidance for re-opening of businesses in 2021, Deverell Hall like many other organisations is planning ahead.

Currently - 12th March 2021

Since this pandemic first started, there were restrictions placed on what type of users could hire the hall. At this moment, our Preschool are back in and have been for a while using the hall. We also have been able to hire the hall to priority groups, so for example we have a meeting once a week for healthcare professionals.

There are 4 key steps to plan for the safe re-opening of the hall. These stages have been laid out by UK Government. All dates are "no earlier than" and may be subject to changes depending on how this year proceeds with the vaccine rollout, infection rates or spikes in hospital treatments being required.

12th April 2021 - NO EARLIER than this date

Initial Groups - Which groups could restart?

Public buildings, such as community halls and centres, and libraries, can reopen. HOWEVER, indoor events which would cover the majority of our hall user groups cannot return at this point. The groups that can restart at this stage are:

  • Deverell Hall Preschool (under Childcare Settings);
  • Living Word Church (under Communal worship);
  • Support groups (these would be healthcare professionals or Counselling Services);
  • Supervised activities for children (example cubs, scouts, brownies);
  • Parent-and-child groups (up to 15 people, not counting those aged under five);
  • or a wedding, reception or commemorative event like a wake (limit 15 persons).

17th May 2021 - NO EARLIER than this date

Other Groups - Which groups could restart?

No earlier than 17th May, controlled events indoors will be subject to restrictions. Hall hirers must comply with COVID-Secure guidance including taking reasonable steps to limit the risk of transmission, complete a related risk assessment; and ensure that those attending do not mix beyond what is permitted by the social contact limits (unless another exemption exists, such as for organised sport or exercise, supervised activities for children or a significant life event). The groups that can restart at this stage are:

  • Craft Memories Scrapbooking;
  • Crown Short Bowls;
  • Floral Art;
  • HDARC Radio Club;
  • Purbrook Horticultural Society;
  • SMS Militaria Fair;
  • Table Tennis Club.

Even then, we would consider the numbers of each group, and make our final decisions based on guidelines, and safety of those people attending.

21st June 2021 - NO EARLIER than this date

Remaining Groups - Which groups could restart?

No earlier than 21st June, all legal limits on social contact are removed. Outdoor events with more than 30 people can take place (for example fetes). Dancing is permitted, and restrictions on numbers attending weddings and funerals plan to be abolished. The remaining groups that can restart at this stage are:

  • AMS4FITNESS;
  • PAWARA;
  • Rowans Support Group;
  • WI - Purbrook;
  • WI - Stakes.

26th July 2021 - NO EARLIER than this date

Depending on the outcome of Government Guidance and what happens as areas of the UK re-open, then hopefully restrictions can be lifted, and we can move forward. However, as a community building, we are acutely aware of protecting people using our hall, and therefore casual hirers, public events, childrens parties etc, may still be subject to restrictions until later in the year.

We will keep you updated as soon as we know more ourselves. Thank you.

What's Happening

At Deverell Hall in Purbrook we host a wide range of regular groups who use the facilities. Here are just a selection of just a few of them.
